Preventative maintenance

Fix it in October, not at −35

Most no-heat calls happen on the first hard cold night, when a part that was already wearing out finally quits. A scheduled check finds it while it's still a small repair.

  • Safer systems: burners, venting and gas connections checked every visit
  • Lower utility bills from clean, properly tuned equipment
  • Less downtime for businesses and farms that can't go without heat or cooling

Common questions

Before you call

My furnace stopped. What should I check first?

Make sure the thermostat is set to heat and has fresh batteries, the furnace switch is on, the breaker hasn't tripped, and the filter isn't clogged. If it's still out, call us. If you smell gas, leave the building first and call Manitoba Hydro's gas emergency line from outside.

Do you work on farms and shops?

Yes. Heated shops, barns and outbuildings are a big part of our work: unit heaters, in-floor hydronic heat, boilers, gas lines and cold storage.

Repair or replace?

We'll tell you straight. As a rough guide, if a system is over 15 years old and the repair costs more than a third of a new one, replacing usually makes more sense. If it's younger, repair is often the better buy, and we'll say so.

What's in a maintenance plan?

Scheduled visits before the heating and cooling seasons, a full safety and performance check each time, and priority booking if something breaks. Call and we'll set one up for your home, business or farm.

Are there rebates for heat pumps and high-efficiency equipment?

Often, through Efficiency Manitoba and other programs, and the details change. We'll point you to what's available when we quote.
